Pre-Import Verification of Conformity of Labels

Recently, the Ministry of Economy of Mexico announced that in order to protect public health, safety, and the environment in Mexico, it will implement Pre Import Verification of Conformity of Labels for all controlled goods imported into Mexico.

We have obtained official authorization from Mexico to inspect all controlled goods to ensure that their labels comply with Mexican standards. All controlled goods require a Certificate of Conformity (Constancia) to be issued before reaching the Mexican border, or a Compliance Report (Dictamen) to be issued after the goods arrive at the Mexican customs bonded warehouse and are inspected by UVA, in order to clear customs smoothly locally.

At present, the following controlled products will be inspected:

1. Textiles and clothing

2. Toys

3. Natural and artificial leather goods and footwear

4. Electronics, electrical goods and household appliances

5. Products for which no specific label standard applies

6. Food and non-alcoholic beverages

7. Automotive lubricating oils

8. Pre-packaged perfume and beauty products

9. Alcoholic beverages

10. Cocoa products and derivatives

11. Cleaning products for household use
